Te acuerdas de los Mantecaditos de la tarde? Of course you do. The good news: they're way simpler to bake than you remember. A buttery cookie with a thumbprint of Conchita Guava Marmalade in the center — Abuela's afternoon classic, ready in under an hour. Prepare for a small trip down memory lane to your childhood.

Ingredients

• 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour

• 1/2 tsp baking powder

• 1/2 tsp salt

• 3/4 cups (1 1/2 sticks) butter, softened

• 1/2 cup granulated sugar

• 1 large egg

• 1 tsp pure vanilla extract

• 1/3 cup Conchita Guava Marmalade or Preserve

How to make it

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

  2. Beat the butter and powdered sugar together until light and fluffy. Add the vanilla and mix well.

  3. Add the flour and salt in two batches until completely incorporated.

  4. Using a small cookie scoop, scoop 1-inch balls onto prepared baking sheets. Press a thumbprint into center of each ball, about 1/2 inch deep.

  5. Fill each thumbprint with a small spoonful of Conchita Guava Marmalade or Preserves.

  6. Bake until edges of cookies are golden, 13 to 14 minutes. Cool on baking sheets before serving.
